Even a small amount of personal data can be worth much to a cyber-thief

Interesting article related to the value of stolen birthdays, social security numbers, usernames and passwords…Just another reminder of where this information can end up and how it can be used against those whose information is acquired by cybercriminals.

Of particular note, is that one small notebook with 55 names was considered to be worth over $500K to the cyberthieves, and that “it took over one month for investigators to track down all of the money associated with the names in the red notebook”.

Be safe! Protect your data. Careful what you click on and what sites you provide your username, password and other vital information to, particularly when shopping online, or opening new accounts with often unfamiliar companies.
